The Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology has teamed up with a specialized healthcare organization to translate its biotech research outcomes into real-world products and technologies. The institute aims to link research and development, technology transfer and commercialization to support the growth of regional bio-health companies and strengthen industry competitiveness.

The institute signed a memorandum of understanding with the Healthcare Spa Industry Promotion Institute on Friday at its headquarters in Daejeon to promote the bio-health industry and accelerate technology commercialization.

The agreement combines the institute's biotech research and development capabilities with the Healthcare Spa Industry Promotion Institute's testing, evaluation and corporate support infrastructure to increase the practical application of research outcomes in industry.

The two organizations will cooperate on joint research and development in the biotech and healthcare sectors, identify collaborative projects, support technology transfer and commercialization of research results, and assist the growth of related companies.

They also plan to share research facilities, equipment and expert personnel, and jointly identify government-funded projects and industry-academia-research cooperation initiatives.

In particular, the partnership will focus on connecting core biotech technologies secured by the institute with the technology development needs of regional companies, and leveraging the Healthcare Spa Industry Promotion Institute's testing and analysis infrastructure to support the practical application and commercialization of those technologies.

The Healthcare Spa Industry Promotion Institute has worked to foster the regional industry through testing, analysis and corporate support programs in the healthcare sector. Following the agreement, the organization plans to expand cooperation with national research institutions and strengthen its tailored corporate support system.

"It is important that biotech research outcomes lead to new technologies and products in the field," Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology President Kwon Seok-yoon said. "We will combine the expertise of both organizations to promote the utilization of research outcomes and technology commercialization, and contribute to the innovative growth of the bio-health industry."
