Students from the hotel culinary program at Keimyung College's Department of Hotel and Food Service Culinary Arts swept top honors at the 2026 National Hansik Culture Competition, taking home the grand prize Seoul Metropolitan Government Mayor's Award along with several other major institutional awards and gold medals.

According to the university, the competition was held Saturday, and students competed across multiple categories, including the five-person live seafood division, the poultry division and the pork tenderloin course meal division.

In the five-person live seafood division, a team of second-year students — Kim Do-hyeok, Kim Ji-min, Yun Seung-uk, Lee Jin-u and Nam Geon-mo — earned the grand prize Seoul Metropolitan Government Mayor's Award after judges praised their creative dishes, which highlighted the distinct qualities of seafood and local ingredients.

In the poultry division, a team of Lee Seung-min, Kang Min-seung, Park Jun-seok, Im Hyeon-yeong and Jeong Eun-yeong won a gold medal and the Korea Hansik Promotion Institute chairman's award, while a separate team of Lee Dong-geon, No Gyeong-ho, Lee Seo-jun, Park Chan-ung and Shim Min-yong took a gold medal and the Korea Agro-Fisheries and Food Trade Corporation (aT) president's award.

A fifth team — Jeong Beom-tak, Park Hyeon-u, Park Se-eun, Jo Hye-jin and Kim Malg-eum — also won a gold medal in the pork tenderloin course meal division.

Jang Sang-jun, the program's head professor, said the results reflected the dedication students showed by practicing after regular classes and on weekends. "We will continue to strengthen hands-on, field-centered practical education and do our utmost to train the professional chefs who will lead the K-food industry," Jang said.
