The Gwangju Hwajung iPark, which underwent reconstruction following a collapse accident, is on track for completion by the end of December.

HDC Hyundai Development said Friday that a final quality inspection had been carried out at the complex — now renamed Gwangju Centennial iPark — as the company targets a year-end completion.

The quality inspection, conducted Thursday, included outside experts: Park Hong-keun, a professor in the Department of Architecture at Seoul National University; Hong Geon-ho, chairman of the Korea Concrete Institute; and Kim Young-min, former chairman of the Korea Structural Engineers Association.

The inspection found overall conditions to be satisfactory.

Finishing work on individual units and landscaping within the complex are continuing at the site. A pre-move-in inspection for residents is scheduled for mid-November.

The accident occurred on Jan. 11, 2022, when interior and exterior structural elements of the apartment building under construction in Hwajung-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju, South Jeolla Province, collapsed, killing six workers and injuring one.
