Incheon Metropolitan City and Incheon Port Authority will distribute a total of 130 million won ($98,100) in incentives to support local logistics companies struggling with maritime freight rate volatility and to boost cargo volumes at Incheon Port.
Incheon Port Authority said Thursday it will accept applications for its 2026 Incheon City Freight Forwarder Incentive program from Monday through Nov. 20.
Eligible applicants are freight forwarders registered with Incheon as international freight logistics operators that handled at least 200 tons of container cargo through Incheon Port in the first three quarters of this year.
Freight forwarders are logistics companies that arrange cargo transportation on behalf of shippers.
The program was designed to ease the cost burden on local logistics companies using Incheon Port and to encourage greater use of the port's facilities.
With maritime freight rate volatility rising sharply in recent months, the initiative aims to strengthen the competitiveness of local firms and secure stable cargo volumes at the port.
Companies wishing to participate may submit the required documents through the Incheon Port Authority website. The authority will verify each applicant's cargo volume records before disbursing the funds.
Meanwhile, Incheon Port Authority has operated an Incheon Port incentive regime since 2006. Details on the 2026 Incheon Port Incentive — a separate program open to shipping lines, shippers and freight forwarders nationwide — will be announced in the first quarter of next year.
