Korean Air and Asiana Airlines are waiving refund and rebooking fees on Paris-bound tickets as protests intensify across France.

According to the aviation industry, Korean Air announced it would waive refund and rebooking fees for Paris-bound tickets purchased before Wednesday, covering flights departing from Wednesday through Nov. 30. Passengers may contact Korean Air's service center or their ticketing office to request a refund. However, any fare difference arising from a rebooking will remain the passenger's responsibility.

Asiana Airlines also announced it would waive change and cancellation fees for Paris route tickets over the same departure window — Wednesday through Nov. 30.

The two carriers' decision to waive fees is seen as a measure to ease passenger inconvenience amid the deteriorating situation on the ground. Protests in France, which began over poor education conditions, have spread nationwide as demonstrators also voiced anger over high prices and declining public services.

After some demonstrators clashed with police and looted shops, the French prime minister's office on Monday (local time) asked some local authorities to impose partial, localized curfews.
