Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Park Ji-won has offered some friendly advice to President Lee Jae Myung over his active use of social media: the practice itself is fine, but he should speak like a president — and get more sleep.

Speaking on BBS Radio's "Jeong Hye-seung's Morning Journal" on Thursday, Park responded to the host's remark that people around the president had been urging him to rest while Lee continued to post on SNS consistently. "I also think he should get some sleep," Park said. "The president needs rest. That's why I publicly called on the new chief of staff to take good care of the president's well-being."

Park had made similar remarks on Wednesday on JTBC's "Lee Ga-hyeok Live," when the host asked whether he thought the president should cut back on his SNS activity. "World leaders everywhere use SNS these days," Park said. "There's a positive side to President Lee appealing directly to the public. If he wants to do it himself, what's wrong with that?"

He added one caveat, however. "I would just say that, since he is the president, I'd like him to use presidential language."

When the host followed up by asking whether Park meant the posts should be a little more refined, Park said yes.

Asked again whether he had no objection to the use of SNS itself, Park said, "He should use it. What better way is there to communicate directly?"

Park noted that he himself posts frequently, even as his own aides urge him to stop. "Even when they say that, isn't this the one channel through which I can appeal directly?" he added.

Earlier, President Lee held an unscheduled press briefing at Cheong Wa Dae's Chunchugwan on Monday, reaffirming his intention to continue communicating directly through SNS.

Lee described SNS as his "lifeline" and a "breathing hole" connecting him to the public.

On Wednesday, Lee also posted on X, formerly Twitter, saying he would increase all forms of public engagement — "live coverage of state affairs, media contact, field visits and SNS alike."
