Korea's Nuri rocket on display in space section
Hanwha Aerospace said Thursday it is participating in the 2026 Sacheon Air Show, which opened at Sacheon Airfield in South Gyeongsang Province.
At the event, Hanwha Aerospace will showcase the advanced technological capabilities it has built alongside domestic aerospace companies and present its vision for fostering shared growth within South Korea's industry ecosystem.
Running through Sunday, this year's Sacheon Air Show combines the existing aviation festival with the Global Aerospace and Defense Exhibition (GADEX). Some 130 domestic and international companies and organizations are set to display cutting-edge technologies and products. Export consultation sessions and business-to-business meetings with global firms are also scheduled.
Hanwha Aerospace will demonstrate its aviation industry capabilities for future battlefield environments, featuring an advanced aero engine under development for next-generation fighter aircraft, a 5,500-pound turbofan engine developed with proprietary domestic technology for unmanned aerial vehicles, the Mohave STOL short takeoff and landing drone, and a canister-type interceptor drone.
In the space sector, the company will exhibit the Nuri rocket — South Korea's homegrown launch vehicle that successfully completed its fifth launch on Oct. 7. As the private systems integrator, Hanwha Aerospace is involved in the manufacture and launch operations of Nuri alongside the Korea Aerospace Research Institute and more than 300 participating companies.
In addition, Hanwha Aerospace is expanding collaboration opportunities with 421 key materials and components suppliers in South Gyeongsang Province across major business areas including aircraft engines, unmanned aerial vehicles and drones.
"We will build a virtuous cycle of shared growth — developing advanced technologies through cooperation with our partners and using that foundation to expand our reach into global markets," a company official said.
