IBK Investment & Securities said Thursday it will hold a non-face-to-face brokerage account-opening and stock trading event for customers of Industrial Bank of Korea's mobile banking app i-One Bank.

Running under the theme "IBK Investment & Securities treats you — for all your hard work this year," the event runs from Thursday through Dec. 11. The first 2,000 customers who open a new IBK Investment & Securities account through i-One Bank will each receive one randomly selected share from among KOSPI 200 constituent stocks.

Customers who open an account and trade 10 million won ($7,530) or more during the event period will also be eligible for additional benefits. Ten such customers will be selected by draw to each receive 500,000 won in cash.

Participants must register separately to take part. IBK Investment & Securities will cover the 22 percent tax on stock prizes, while cash prizes will be deposited — net of applicable taxes — into the account used for event registration.

In September, the company also ran an event called "Oditseoryo? OX Quest" for subscribers to its official YouTube channel, offering travel support funds of up to 2 million won as well as ice cream and beverage vouchers through a draw among those who answered financial investment OX quiz questions correctly. The event was designed to broaden communication with customers.

"This event was designed to give new customers tangible investment benefits and to naturally guide them from opening an account all the way through to making trades," an IBK Investment & Securities official said. "We will continue to build on our collaboration with Industrial Bank of Korea to enhance customer convenience and deliver differentiated financial services."
