The district hosted the meeting Wednesday at Dobong-gu Office to discuss urban renewal projects, share revitalization support plans and hear residents' concerns
Dobong-gu in Seoul held a roundtable with representatives of reconstruction and redevelopment projects Wednesday at Gansong Hall in the district office, sharing the district's plans to support and promote urban renewal while gathering residents' requests.
The meeting brought together District Mayor Kim Dong-wook and representatives from eight reconstruction zones — including the head of the Ssangmun Hanyang 1st association — and seven redevelopment zones, including the head of the Ssangmun Zone 3 association.
District officials briefed attendees on the ninth elected-term administration's reconstruction and redevelopment revitalization support plan, which centers on resident communication. The plan covers three initiatives: operating a resident communication council for urban renewal projects, running an expert advisory panel for such projects, and holding an urban renewal academy.
Officials then listened to representatives' concerns about obstacles encountered during project implementation and regulations they considered unreasonable.
Representatives called on the district to actively review four issues: expediting the district-unit plan for the Changdong-Sanggye housing development zone; resolving asset-disposal problems involving properties owned by the Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation within redevelopment zones; easing the conditions for installing anti-aircraft defense positions permanently staffed by Capital Defense Command soldiers; and clearing burial mounds in Choansan.
In addition, representatives expressed satisfaction with the district's proactive administrative handling and its strong support for housing supply initiatives.
"This roundtable was a meaningful occasion to hear the key issues surrounding reconstruction and redevelopment," District Mayor Kim said. "Because these projects involve many interrelated fields, we will make every effort to conduct a comprehensive review at the district level so that work can proceed smoothly."
