A large fire broke out Tuesday at a seven-story commercial building in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, leaving one person in critical condition. The victim suffered cardiac arrest and was transported to a hospital.
Fire authorities said they received the emergency call at around 11:54 a.m. Tuesday. The first response unit arrived at the scene four minutes later and began fighting the blaze. As of the latest update, 37 pieces of fire equipment and 123 firefighters were engaged in suppression efforts.
The building has seven above-ground floors and two below-ground floors. Authorities believe the fire started on the fourth floor. The building houses small and mid-sized offices and cafes.
