Mountain sports paired with cultural performances and flea market
Ulju-gun in Ulsan will host the 2026 Ulju Climbing Day from Friday to Sunday at the international climbing wall of the Yeongnam Alps Complex Welcome Center, offering children and families a chance to experience the sport over three days.
Climbing builds concentration, balance and physical coordination while challenging participants to push past their own limits. This year's event is organized in conjunction with the 2026 Yeongnam Alps Healing Music Concert, allowing visitors to enjoy both mountain sports and cultural performances.
Five mountain sports programs are on offer: mobile climbing, where participants scale a 7-meter artificial rock wall; tree climbing, which uses ropes to ascend trees; sports climbing, a hands-on experience on an international-standard artificial rock course; monkey climbing, where participants grip and climb artificial holds installed on trees; and speed climbing, which uses international-standard equipment to measure ascent times.
Alongside this, two additional programs have been prepared — a valley crossing, where participants traverse a ravine on a rope, and a mountain escape, which uses a zip line in a real mountain environment.
On Saturday, the central plaza of the Complex Welcome Center will host the 2026 Yeongnam Alps Healing Music Concert, featuring street performances, a singing contest and celebratory sets by invited singers Ahn So-mi, Shin Na-ra and Jeon Myeong-geun. A flea market with 14 local vendors will also run throughout the event.
Registration for climbing day programs will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis at the operations center on the day of the event. For more information, contact the Yeongnam Alps Complex Welcome Center's international climbing wall at 052-204-2933.
