The UFC, the world's largest mixed martial arts organization, will hold a numbered event in Toronto, Canada, in January.
The UFC announced it will stage UFC 336 at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on Jan. 31 (Korean Standard Time), in partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Sport. A full fight card will be announced at a later date.
UFC President and CEO Dana White said he was thrilled to bring the promotion back to the city. "I love Canada," White said. "Toronto has been the site of some of the greatest moments in UFC history, and I can't wait to go back next year."
The event will mark the eighth UFC event ever held in Toronto. The city has previously hosted title fights featuring Georges St-Pierre, Jon Jones, Jose Aldo, Valentina Shevchenko and Max Holloway.
The UFC has held 38 events across 11 Canadian cities since launching its presence in the country with UFC 83 in Montreal in 2008.
Ontario Minister of Sport Brian Sanderson said sports tourism is a key economic driver for the province. "We are creating an environment that is attractive to world-class combat sports events through measures such as eliminating admission fees and streamlining administrative processes," he said.
