Affiliate tie-ups and local government partnerships broaden benefits for donors
Lotte Members announced Tuesday that it is expanding benefits under the hometown love donation system in partnership with group affiliates, including Lotte Department Store, Lotte Mart, Seven-Eleven, Lotte Cinema and Lotteria.
Customers who donate 100,000 won ($74) or more through the L.Point app by year-end will receive one of the following: a 10,000 won Lotte Department Store mobile gift voucher, a 10,000 won Lotte Mart mobile gift voucher, a 10,000 won Seven-Eleven mobile gift voucher, one Lotte Cinema movie ticket, or a Lotteria Hanwoo bulgogi burger combo mobile coupon. Lotte Wellfood and Lotte Chilsung Beverage will also join the program before the end of the year.
Lotte Members has also partnered with Nam-gu in Gwangju. Customers who donate 100,000 won or more to Nam-gu will receive an additional 10,000 won Lotte Mart mobile gift voucher on top of the existing one. The company plans to build a cooperative network with local governments across the country to expand region-specific community initiatives.
Under the hometown love donation system, individuals who donate to a local government outside their registered address receive a tax deduction and local return gifts worth 30 percent of the donated amount. The funds are passed on to local governments and used to finance public-interest projects such as support for vulnerable groups and protection of abandoned animals.
Meanwhile, Lotte Members has been promoting a culture of giving through the L.Point app, which has 45 million members — the largest base of any such platform in the country. Last year, a Lotteria coupon giveaway promotion drew strong interest, raising 1.5 billion won in December alone. Cumulative donations through the end of last year reached 2 billion won.
