A heartwarming story has emerged from the Korean Folk Village in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, where a 5-year-old boy burst into tears during a haunted experience — then stepped in front of his father to shield him from a ghost.
Actor A, who plays the traditional Korean goblin character Eodugsini at the Korean Folk Village, recently shared on social media a message sent to him by a visitor named B.
In the message, B introduced himself as the father of a 5-year-old boy who had taken part in the village's haunted experience.
According to B, actor A — in full ghost costume — approached the pair and acted out a scene threatening to "devour" them, at which point his son broke down in tears.
But instead of hiding behind his father, the boy stepped forward, planted himself between his dad and the ghost, and cried out, "No! Run, Dad!"
"He must have been terrified himself, yet he didn't run — he stood up to protect me," B wrote. "I always thought I was the one protecting my son, but that day he taught me what love is, and what true courage really means."
B added that his son might forget the moment as time passes, but that he never would. He also vowed to be a steadfast father his son could lean on, one who would not easily crumble in the face of hardship.
Actor A replied with his own message of gratitude. "The fact that a small performance I gave could become such a deeply moving moment in someone's life — a memory they will carry forever — fills me with a profound sense of responsibility as an actor, and with gratitude I cannot put into words," he said.
"I am still far from the actor I want to be," he added, "but I will hold your kind words close to my heart and keep striving to grow and deepen my craft."
