Mapo-gu District Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun attended the opening ceremony of the 2026 Mapo Literary Association's 17th poetry and painting exhibition Monday afternoon at the Eoullim Madang on the first floor of the Mapo-gu district office, offering his support for the creative work of local writers.
Organized and hosted by the Mapo Literary Association, the exhibition was designed to bring literature closer to residents' everyday lives and to share the comfort and emotion found in poetry.
At the event, which featured harmonica melodies and poetry recitations, Yoo congratulated the association on staging the exhibition and expressed gratitude to local writers for conveying reflection on life and warm consolation through their work.
"I hope the quiet resonance of a single poem brings warm comfort and a sense of ease to our residents," Yoo said. "We will continue to support the creative activities of local writers and strive to make literature and the arts accessible to everyone, right in their own neighborhoods."
The exhibition runs through Thursday.
