Yeongyang-gun in North Gyeongsang Province and the Yeongyang branch of NH NongHyup Bank signed a "local agriculture mutual development MOU" Monday to promote the public value of farming and rural communities and support the sustainable growth of the region's agricultural sector.
Under the agreement, the two organizations will cooperate across a range of areas, including spreading awareness of the public benefits of agriculture and rural life, promoting and boosting sales of locally grown produce, providing financial education to strengthen residents' financial literacy, supplying labor to address worker shortages during the busy farming season, and identifying and pursuing joint projects with local government.
"We will actively draw on NongHyup's financial and agricultural support capabilities to deliver tangible, community-felt cooperation — raising farm household incomes, nurturing young farmers and easing the rural labor shortage," Yeongyang Branch Chief O Chang-ju said.
Yeongyang-gun County Governor O Do-chang said he hopes the agreement will establish a solid framework for collaboration between local government and NongHyup that contributes to higher farm incomes and the shared development of the community. "We will continue to actively pursue cooperative projects that raise the public value of agriculture and rural life and provide real, practical help to farmers," he added.
