The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee announced Monday that it supported the "Retired Athletes' Harmony Gathering," held Saturday at the Taereung National Training Center in Seoul.
Organized by the Korea Athletes Association, the event brought together retired athletes who contributed to the development of Korean sports to network and build camaraderie.
Participants took part in various sporting activities and shared memories and experiences from their competitive days. The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee provided administrative and financial support for the event.
The Korea Athletes Association works to protect the rights and improve the welfare of retired athletes. In addition to facilitating exchanges among athletes, it provides living support for those facing financial hardship.
Han Myung-woo, who won a gold medal in freestyle wrestling in the 82-kilogram category at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, serves as the association's secretary-general.
