Guro-gu will host a series of 10 community sports competitions across October and November, featuring events in soccer, futsal, bowling, table tennis and more.

Organized by the Guro-gu Sports Council with district support and run by individual sport associations, the series kicked off Sunday with the 42nd Guro-gu District Mayor's Cup soccer tournament and continues at venues across the district through Nov. 14.

On Sunday, the soccer tournament's second round will be held alongside the 13th Guro-gu District Mayor's Cup Youth Futsal Tournament and the 26th Guro-gu Association President's Cup Men's and Women's Bowling Tournament. The futsal event is expected to draw about 600 young participants, who will compete at Anyangcheon Field C.

A string of competitions for community sports enthusiasts of all ages and disciplines follows. Table tennis opens the run on Oct. 24, followed by jokgu and kendo on Oct. 25, gateball on Oct. 30 and taekwondo on Oct. 31.

The series extends into November. The 36th Guro-gu District Mayor's Cup Badminton Tournament runs Oct. 31 through Nov. 1, and the 8th Guro-gu District Mayor's Cup Boxing Tournament closes out the fall program on Nov. 14.

"With so many sports competitions taking place this fall, I hope athletes and enthusiasts alike can showcase the skills they have worked hard to develop and find time to connect with one another," District Mayor Jang In-hong said. "We will continue to support residents of all ages so they can enjoy community sports in their daily lives and lead healthier lives."
