Chef Yun Nam-no shared an embarrassing story about his knife bag tearing open on the subway.

Yun appeared as a guest on the KBS 2TV variety program "Oktapbang-ui Munje-a" on Tuesday alongside fellow guest Kim Pung.

When asked whether his appearance had ever caused misunderstandings, Yun recounted an incident on the subway.

"I was at Cheongdam Station carrying a loose knife bag when the bottom gave out," he said. "One knife slid out, and then the whole thing tore apart. There were more than 10 knives in there."

He then reenacted the moment he crouched down to pick up the knives from the floor. "My face looked exactly like this as I grabbed them," he said. "People screamed — they were genuinely startled. Everyone on both sides just parted and moved away."

Kim Pung, listening to the story, drew laughs by remarking, "Nam-no is scary when he opens his eyes wide. The dark circles under his eyes make him look like a little jiangshi."

The ordeal continued even after Yun got off the train. "A station worker was waiting for me on the platform," he said. "I showed them my social media photos and explained I was a chef — that I wasn't dangerous. I even showed them the tongs I had with me, not just the knives."

Yun explained that the bag had torn because of a whetstone he was carrying. "It was so heavy it ripped through," he said. "The whetstone had cracked, and having broken pieces of stone rattling around inside a bag is already strange enough." He added, "Fortunately, it all worked out fine."
