Daejeon teams up with Korail to offer an integrated bakery tour timed to Daejeon Hana Citizen's AFC Champions League Elite home matches in October and November
Daejeon has teamed up with Korail (Korea Railroad Corporation) to launch a combined soccer and bakery tour timed to Daejeon Hana Citizen's AFC Champions League Elite home matches in October and November.
The program is designed to give out-of-town soccer fans arriving by train a chance to explore Daejeon's signature bakery scene before heading to the stadium in comfort.
Any AFC Champions League spectator traveling to Daejeon by Korail train is eligible to apply, and participants receive free transportation throughout the tour.
The tour route, called the Daejeon Bread Rail Tour, departs at 2 p.m. from the Daejeon Travel Lounge and visits a string of well-known downtown bakeries — Cold Butter Bake Shop (City Hall branch), California Bakery, Le Pain 99-1 and Yeon Seon-heum Bakery — over four hours.
After the tour, participants board a dedicated vehicle and arrive at Daejeon World Cup Stadium by 6 p.m., ahead of kickoff.
The program runs twice in total, on Oct. 27 and Nov. 24, each timed to a Daejeon Hana Citizen AFC Champions League Elite home match.
Each outing requires a minimum of 20 participants to depart, and those wishing to join can register through Naver's advance reservation system.
Kwon Gyeong-min, director of Daejeon's Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, said the program offers "a rewarding itinerary where you can enjoy the convenience of train travel, the fun of Daejeon's bakery trail and the excitement of live soccer all at the same time," adding that he hopes soccer fans from across the country "come to Daejeon and take home wonderful memories."
Full program details and reservations are available through Living International Co. or the Naver reservations page.
