Geumcheon-gu announced it is renaming its existing "district mayor direct text" service to the "district mayor communication text" service as part of efforts to strengthen ties with residents in the ninth elected-term administration.
The service gives any resident a direct channel to send text messages about everyday inconveniences, policy suggestions or general opinions on district affairs. The district changed the name to signal a closer, more responsive approach to resident feedback, and plans to work with residents to find solutions based on the opinions received.
Anyone who lives in Geumcheon-gu, runs a business there or is otherwise connected to the district is eligible to use the service by sending a text from a mobile phone. Responses are provided by text as a rule, though residents may request a reply by letter or another method.
The phone number, 010-7364-0982, was chosen deliberately: "09" reflects the ninth elected term, while "82" signals swift handling. The district added these meanings to help residents remember and use the number easily.
Personal information contained in messages and attachments is kept confidential as a matter of principle. Content unrelated to district affairs — including defamatory remarks, commercial advertising or repeated submissions on the same issue — may be deleted or modified without prior notice.
"Listening closely to residents and working through issues together is what matters most," Geumcheon-gu District Mayor Choi Ki-chan said. "If you have any everyday inconveniences or opinions about district affairs, please feel free to share them through the district mayor communication text service."
Geumcheon-gu said it will continue gathering resident input through a range of online and offline channels and incorporate the feedback into district administration to deliver services that residents can tangibly feel.
