The fourth edition of the Celadon Kiln Experience Center Exhibition runs Wednesday through Saturday at Gangbuk Arts and Culture Center's Jindalrae Hall
Instructors and students co-curated the show, which features ceramic works, activity photos and excavated artifacts
Gangbuk-gu in Seoul will present the fourth edition of its Celadon Kiln Experience Center Exhibition from Wednesday through Saturday at the first-floor gallery of Jindalrae Hall at Gangbuk Arts and Culture Center.
The exhibition was organized to share ceramic works created by students of the Celadon Kiln Experience Center with local residents and to spark broader interest in pottery. The show carries added significance as both instructors and students took part in planning it, making it a showcase of what they have learned together.
The gallery will display more than 400 works by students alongside activity photos and excavated artifacts. Visitors can admire pieces that reflect each student's individual style and trace the process of learning and making ceramics through the accompanying photographs.
An opening ceremony will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. As part of the event, a celadon blue demonstration titled "Connecting Blue Lines" will be performed — artists will draw blue strokes onto a spinning white porcelain vessel. The act of lines joining to complete a single work is intended to convey the idea of connecting the exhibition and its visitors.
On the opening day, Wednesday, the gallery will be open from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. On Thursday and Friday, hours run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On the final day, Saturday, the exhibition closes at noon. Admission is free and open to all residents with an interest in ceramics.
The district hopes the exhibition will give students a sense of creative accomplishment and offer residents an accessible introduction to pottery in everyday life.
"I hope the dedication and learning that students have poured into shaping clay will reach their neighbors through this exhibition," Gangbuk-gu District Mayor Jeong Chang-su said. "We will continue to support residents in learning about culture and the arts in their daily lives and sharing that joy with one another."
