Bank plans to upgrade custody services
Hana Bank announced Monday that it has been named the 2026 Best Sub-Custodian Bank in Korea by Global Finance, the international financial and economic publication.
The bank said the award reflects international recognition of its stable settlement and custody infrastructure, strong risk management capabilities and differentiated customer service.
The recognition also aligns with the Ministry of Economy and Finance's "won internationalization roadmap," which aims to raise the global standing of the Korean currency. The government has said it plans to expand foreign investors' access to domestic securities markets and activate won liquidity services, including by adding custody operations to the scope of authorized foreign exchange business.
Building on the award, Hana Bank said it plans to upgrade its custody services in support of the government's won internationalization policy, with the goal of providing foreign investors with a convenient and reliable environment for investing in won-denominated assets.
"This award is a global validation of the sub-custody service expertise we have built up over the years and our customer-centered operating model," a bank official said. "We will continue to serve as a trusted gateway to Korea's domestic capital markets."
Last month, Hana Bank signed an MOU with Upbit Global to establish a framework for the secure transfer of digital assets and regulatory compliance.
