Gangseo Starlight Space Science Museum in Seoul's Gangseo-gu will hold a special science and culture festival on Oct. 31 to mark its third anniversary.

Themed "Constellations and Space Stories on a Birthday," the event will feature a wide range of programs — exhibitions, lectures, planetarium shows, hands-on activities and performances — designed to make space science accessible and enjoyable for visitors of all ages.

The festival will run from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. across the museum's entire premises. In the exhibition hall, a special display titled "Cosmoswag" will greet visitors, presenting space science concepts through friendly illustrated characters.

From 1:20 to 2 p.m., a program called "My Birthday on a Keychain" will be held in the first-floor Cosmos Maru lecture room, targeting families with preschool-age children. Participants will explore their birthday constellations and craft their own constellation keychains.

An opening ceremony on the central stage at 2 p.m. will kick off the main festivities, followed by a "Magic Balloon Show" combining magic and balloon art, and an audience-participation astronomy quiz show titled "Challenge! Golden Star!"

The planetarium dome theater will host several programs, including a special lecture by science YouTuber "Gwahak Cookie," as well as constellation-viewing sessions such as "Mysterious Constellations" and "Birthday Constellations and the Zodiac: Finding Your Star Sign" projected onto the ceiling dome screen. From 4:30 p.m., a screening of "Fantasia 2000" — blending classical music with Disney animation — will close out the festival.

Outdoor activities will also be plentiful. Ten experience booths will be set up in the museum's front yard, offering caricature drawing, face painting, a starlight photo zone and seed-planting kits, among other activities.

District Mayor Jin Kyo-hoon said the museum had prepared "a meaningful occasion to connect with residents who have visited the museum over the past three years," adding that he hoped visitors would "enjoy learning about constellations and space with their families and celebrate the museum's birthday together."

Registration details and full program schedules are available on the Gangseo Starlight Space Science Museum's official website.
