The Daegu Medical Association announced Saturday that it is holding a member arts festival at Gallery Noma on the third floor of the Hanyoung Arts Center through Oct. 11 to mark its 80th anniversary.

The festival is themed "80 years on the trust of citizens, 800 years of giving back through medicine," with 19 participants including medical students, residents, clinic doctors, professors and senior members.

The exhibition features works across five categories: painting, calligraphy, ceramics, sculpture and contemporary art, and photography.

Prize-winning entries from a children's art and essay competition held under themes including "preventing and responding to disasters" are also on display — 21 artworks and 15 essays in total.

Weekday visiting hours run from 12:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. On weekends and public holidays, the gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free.

"If medicine is the work of caring for life and health, art is a precious language that enriches the mind and life," association President Min Bok-gi said. "I hope citizens can share in the beauty and sense of ease that these works convey."
