Korail says victim likely entered tracks without authorization

A man in his 60s was struck and killed by a train on the Line 1 upbound track between Uiwang Station and Sungkyunkwan University Station on Saturday, disrupting upbound service for more than two hours.

According to Korail, the incident occurred at around 5:58 a.m. Saturday on the upbound track between Uiwang Station and Sungkyunkwan University Station in Yuljeong-dong, Jangan-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi Province.

About 150 passengers aboard the train at the time transferred to a following service.

The man is believed to have entered the tracks without authorization before being struck.

Korail and police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
