The Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry conducted a worker safety awareness campaign targeting 418 employees at six convergence home appliance manufacturing companies, the chamber announced Friday.
The campaign was organized as part of the "Safety Work-Up" project, with support from the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the South Jeolla-Gwangju Integrated Special City.
Chamber representatives visited participating company worksites to distribute posters outlining the "12 Core Safety Rules for the 5 Major Serious Accidents."
Workers received guidance on major industrial hazards — including falls, entrapment, collisions, fires, explosions and suffocation — and were encouraged to practice everyday safety measures such as wearing protective gear, checking for risk factors before starting work and keeping workplaces tidy.
"We hope this serves as an opportunity for workers to practice safety rules in their daily lives," said Chae Hwa-seok, standing vice president of the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry. "We will continue working to establish a sustainable safety culture."
