Song Jong-min to serve as senior vice chairman and Hoban Construction CEO
Hoban Group has reshuffled top executives at its major subsidiaries, naming Kim Dae-heon, the group's chief planning officer, as chairman of the Hoban Construction board of directors. Song Jong-min, vice chairman and CEO of Taihan Cable & Solution, will take on the roles of group senior vice chairman and Hoban Construction CEO.
The group announced Friday that the changes were made to strengthen business competitiveness and secure future growth drivers. The reshuffle comes earlier than in previous years, with the group aiming to establish new leadership at key subsidiaries ahead of schedule and sharpen management execution.
As board chairman of Hoban Construction, Kim will help shape the group's medium- and long-term growth strategy for its construction arm. Drawing on his experience overseeing the group's overall business as chief planning officer, he will take on a stronger decision-making role on key management issues and future business strategy.
Song will concurrently serve as Hoban Group senior vice chairman and Hoban Construction CEO. During his tenure as CEO of Taihan Cable & Solution, he expanded investment in high-value businesses such as extra-high-voltage and submarine cables and strengthened the company's global operations. At Hoban Construction, he is expected to focus on urban redevelopment projects and the expansion of large-scale development projects in Seoul and the greater metropolitan area.
Byeon Bu-seop, head of the construction safety division at Hoban Construction, will be promoted to president and will serve as co-CEO alongside Song.
Kim Jun-seok, currently an executive vice president, has been promoted to president and named the incoming CEO of Taihan Cable & Solution. Kim has been involved in Hoban Group's mergers and acquisitions and business diversification efforts, and at Taihan Cable & Solution he has overseen major investments and core business expansion. He plans to pursue growth in overseas markets including the United States and Europe, as well as investment in HVDC and submarine cable businesses.
Jeong Seong-gi, an executive vice president at Hoban Industrial, has been promoted to president and named its incoming CEO. Jeong is expected to expand the company's renewable energy business — including wind and solar power — and pursue entry into urban data center construction while strengthening its EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) capabilities.
At Hoban Hotels & Resorts, Executive Director Kang Sin-ju has been promoted to executive vice president and named the incoming CEO. He will work to strengthen the existing resort business while pursuing new projects, including the development of the Hwajinpo international leisure and tourism zone.
"We focused on establishing new leadership early to proactively respond to an uncertain business environment and push forward key tasks at our major subsidiaries with greater urgency," a Hoban Group official said. "We will enhance the competitiveness of existing businesses through professional managers at each subsidiary and strengthen accountable decision-making and execution."
The appointments are subject to final confirmation through relevant procedures, including board meetings at each subsidiary.
