Self-assessment, case discussions, executive talks linked to on-the-job application

Talent development system covers new hires, promoted staff and team leaders

Agricultural machinery maker TYM has completed a leadership training program for its company-wide team leaders and sales branch managers, with a follow-up workshop addressing real organizational challenges planned for November.

TYM said Tuesday it held the "WA TYM Leadership Program" for team leaders and sales branch managers at Konjiam Resort in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, in September.

The program ran across two sessions — Sept. 8-9 and Oct. 15-16 — with a total of 75 participants. It focused on helping leaders examine how they communicate with team members and manage their teams, through self-assessment exercises, case discussions, hands-on practice and executive lectures.

TYM designed the program not as a one-off training event but as a continuous cycle of education, on-the-job application and a follow-up workshop. Team leaders who completed the program are expected to apply the leadership concepts covered to their actual work before reconvening to review organizational challenges.

In November, TYM will hold execution workshops at each of its worksites. Participants will share the challenges their teams face with fellow team leaders and discuss improvements based on what they have applied in the field.

"Team leaders are the key figures who translate an organization's direction into on-the-ground execution," Chief Executive Officer Kim So-won said. "We hope this program gives participants a chance to put the leadership insights and solutions they gained directly into practice."
