Yeongcheon in North Gyeongsang Province announced Friday that it has formed a task force to lay the groundwork for building a K-pop dome arena, a campaign pledge of the current city administration.
The TF will be led by the deputy mayor and will include relevant city departments, with responsibilities divided across project planning, development support, culture and sports, investment attraction, and tourism and public relations.
The team will comprehensively review key tasks across the project in coordination with an ongoing feasibility study and conceptual design work for the dome, while strengthening collaboration among the departments involved.
Through the conceptual design and feasibility study, Yeongcheon plans to closely analyze the city's locational conditions and the project's viability, and to map out concrete action plans and a phased implementation strategy.
"The K-pop dome can serve as a core growth engine that takes Yeongcheon's culture, tourism and sports industries to the next level," Mayor Kim Byeong-sam said. "Centered on the TF, we will push ahead without delay with the necessary steps — including the conceptual design, feasibility study and consultations with relevant agencies — to develop a project model suited to Yeongcheon."
