KCC Egis face Changwon LG at Sajik Arena on Saturday afternoon
Defending champions open the entire league's season on home court
Busan mayor, KBL commissioner and some 8,000 fans expected in attendance
The official season opener of the 2026-2027 Korean Basketball League, which also serves as Busan KCC Egis' first home game of the season, will tip off at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sajik Indoor Gymnasium.
KCC Egis, which relocated to Busan in 2023, claimed last season's championship by defeating Goyang Sono four games to one in the finals. As the defending champion, the club will host the league's first game of the new season on its home court. The opponent is Changwon LG Sakers.
The opening ceremony will be attended by Busan Mayor Jeon Jae-soo, KCC Egis owner Chung Mong-yeol, senior KBL officials and approximately 8,000 basketball fans to celebrate the start of the new season.
Pre-game festivities begin at 1 p.m., an hour before tip-off. The program opens with a highlight reel of the team's championship run last season, followed by a cheerleader performance and a concert by a specially invited singer.
The official ceremony will feature the introduction of both squads, opening remarks by KCC General Manager Choi Hyeong-gil and a formal season-opening declaration by KBL Commissioner Lee Su-gwang.
Starting with Saturday's opener, Busan KCC will embark on a seven-month campaign running through April next year, playing a total of 62 games across home and away fixtures. Tickets are available through the KBL's official website (www.kbl.or.kr) and its dedicated mobile app, as well as at the arena box office on game day.
"I hope the team carries on the passion from last season's championship and delights citizens with outstanding play on the court this year as well," Mayor Jeon said.
