New lineup includes anti-slip 'Powerlac Non-Slip' and low-hazardous-substance 'Gloss30'
Chokwang Paint, a paint and materials company, has launched two powder coatings designed for industrial safety applications.
The new products are Powerlac Non-Slip, which prevents slip-and-fall accidents on slick surfaces, and Powerlac Gloss30, an outdoor coating that achieves a glossy finish without hazardous substances. Non-Slip is intended for surfaces people walk on — including steel grating on floors and drainage covers, and stair treads — while Gloss30 is designed for outdoor structures such as steel window frames and streetlights. Both products are applied by coating a powder onto metal surfaces and curing it with heat, the company said.
Non-Slip creates a textured, uneven surface to improve grip. Testing by the Korea Conformity Laboratories under the KS F 2375:2016 standard recorded 43 BPN when wet and 83 BPN when dry — 2.4 times higher than conventional coatings, which measure 18 BPN when wet. The results also meet the Seoul Metropolitan Government's standard for flat pedestrian pavement and the specification standard for stone public facilities, both of which require at least 40 BPN. The company said the coating can be applied to steel grating on floors and drainage systems, as well as to workplace stairs and platforms.
Gloss30 is an outdoor coating that achieves a semi-gloss finish of around 30 gloss units without TGIC, a hardener classified as a hazardous substance. Previously, producing that level of gloss without TGIC required an additional processing step. The new product eliminates that extra step, giving it a competitive price advantage, Chokwang said.
