Webinar to share alternative dispute resolution practices and tech startup growth strategies
Korean and Singaporean companies are set to strengthen their global competitiveness through IP-based business strategies, including the use of alternative dispute resolution — a process that allows parties to settle disputes through negotiation, mediation or arbitration without going through formal court proceedings.
The International Intellectual Property Training Institute under Korea's Intellectual Property Office will co-host the "Korea-Singapore IP-Based Business Success Strategy Webinar" with the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) on Tuesday, targeting business representatives and IP professionals from both countries.
Singapore is South Korea's second-largest trading partner among ASEAN member states, with bilateral trade reaching $30.94 billion in 2025, according to the Korea Customs Service, and serves as a key gateway for Korean companies seeking to enter the broader ASEAN market.
The two countries established a strategic partnership in 2025, and this March signed a memorandum of understanding on strengthened IP cooperation — covering AI-based patent examination and administrative services, IP valuation, financing and commercialization — on the occasion of a summit visit, deepening collaboration at the intersection of advanced technology and intellectual property.
The webinar is an education initiative carried out following the MOU signing and represents a concrete step toward advancing bilateral IP cooperation.
The program is built around practical, field-applicable content. It will cover Singapore's alternative dispute resolution (ADR) system, how global companies can leverage IP infrastructure, success stories from Korean technology startups, and IP-based growth and investment attraction strategies for Korean firms.
Through the webinar, participants from both countries are expected to build the practical skills needed to enter overseas markets and strengthen global IP competitiveness, gaining insight into Singapore's dispute resolution framework and IP utilization as well as successful startup growth strategies from Korea.
Song Seong-heon, director of the International Intellectual Property Training Institute, said the webinar "will serve as a meaningful platform for directly sharing the IP know-how that companies and professionals in both countries need, built on our cooperation with IPOS." He added that the institute would "continue to strengthen IP education cooperation with Singapore as a key ASEAN hub, actively contributing to the overseas expansion and IP competitiveness of Korean companies."
