District mayor shops with Onuri gift vouchers, encourages vendors; 'Will bring more vitality to traditional markets'
Visits 3 markets Tuesday, 4 more Wednesday — listens to merchants' concerns and suggestions
Yongsan-gu District Mayor Kim Kyung-dae visited seven traditional markets and shopping streets in the district Tuesday and Wednesday ahead of the Chuseok holiday to encourage vendors and hear their concerns firsthand. The visits were organized to boost foot traffic at traditional markets and inject vitality into the local commercial district ahead of the holiday.
On Tuesday, Kim visited Sinheung Market, Huam Market and Malli Market in succession, greeting vendors and personally purchasing Chuseok goods using Onuri gift vouchers to show support for traditional markets. He also listened to merchants' difficulties and suggestions, and offered words of encouragement to vendors navigating a busy pre-holiday schedule.
On Wednesday, he visited Itaewon Market, Yongsan Yongmun Market, Ichon Market and the Han River Shopping Center to engage with merchants and gather opinions on revitalizing traditional markets and shopping streets.
"I hope residents who visit traditional markets ahead of Chuseok can find quality goods at reasonable prices, share warm moments throughout the market, and enjoy a rich holiday," Kim said. "Traditional markets are precious community spaces where quality products and warm hospitality come together to bring people closer. We will continue to develop policies that preserve the unique appeal and competitiveness of these markets and help merchants and residents build vitality together."
