29 on-call medical facilities and 53 holiday pharmacies to operate during the holiday period; emergency medical operations center to guide residents and handle urgent situations
Mapo-gu will implement an emergency medical care plan during the Chuseok holiday from Wednesday through Saturday to minimize gaps in medical services.
The Mapo-gu Public Health Center has designated 29 on-call medical institutions — including hospitals and clinics — to provide medical support throughout the holiday period.
Fifty-three holiday pharmacies will also operate under pharmacist supervision so residents can safely purchase medications. Two of these are Mapo-gu public late-night pharmacies, which will remain open until 1 a.m. for residents who need medicine late at night.
Detailed information on operating hours for on-call hospitals, clinics and pharmacies is available through the Mapo-gu Public Health Center website, the Dasan Call Center (120), the Health and Welfare Call Center (129), the National Emergency Medical Center's emergency information website, and the mobile app for emergency medical information.
An emergency medical operations center will be set up at the public health center, running from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The center will guide residents to open medical facilities and pharmacies, verify their operating status, handle public inquiries and maintain emergency contact lines in case of urgent situations.
The district will also step up infectious disease response. The public health center will operate an emergency quarantine team and an epidemiological investigation unit to monitor and swiftly respond to any outbreaks of waterborne or foodborne illnesses, as well as COVID-19, during the holiday.
"We will make sure residents can access appropriate medical services even if they face a sudden illness or need medication during the holiday," Mapo-gu District Mayor Yoo Dong-kyun said. "We will do our utmost to respond quickly to any emergency so that residents can enjoy a safe and comfortable holiday."
