Actress Nam Bo-ra got a firsthand taste of the challenges of new motherhood during a recent outing with her 3-month-old son.
A video posted Monday to Nam's YouTube channel, "Nam Bo-ra's Theater of Life," showed her heading out to a department store in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, with her infant son in her arms.
"I've been cooped up at home and really needed to get out. I can manage on my own, right?" she said in the video, checking that her son was asleep before setting off.
"I'm always carrying Meoteolie (her dog) around — going out with a baby feels completely different," she said, visibly excited by the novelty of the trip.
The outing quickly ran into trouble, however. Her son woke up and began crying, apparently hungry.
Nam tried to soothe him while hurrying toward the exit. "All done. Let's go, let's go. Let's go home," she said, then attempted to lift his mood: "Kongal, isn't this exciting? This place is really hot right now." But the crying did not stop.
"Guess he's not that excited. I should have fed him before we left," she said, regretting the decision to head out.
As she rushed to grab a few dessert pastries, she dropped the camera she had been holding. The screen went black, and a subtitle appeared on the video reading, "Is anyone there? Please help," giving viewers a sense of just how chaotic the moment had become.
"This is not easy," Nam said, voicing the struggles of a first-time mother. She was back home within 30 minutes of leaving.
Born in 1989, Nam married a businessman her own age in May last year and welcomed a son this past June.
