Jongno-gu District Mayor Yoo Chan-jong attended the groundbreaking ceremony for a new cathedral and Daegeon Hall at Catholic University Korea's Sungshin Campus on Friday.
The new cathedral and Daegeon Hall will be built on a site at 296-12 Changgyeonggung-ro in Jongno-gu, Seoul, rising six floors above ground with two below-ground levels. The project is targeted for completion in August 2028, and the new facilities are expected to significantly improve study conditions for seminary students.
"I hope this becomes a place where students can learn and grow in a better environment, and a starting point for Catholic University Korea to take a great leap forward," Yoo said.
