Reserved zones secured for general residents; Haenam Sports Park soccer fields free through year-end
Haenam-gun announced it will introduce a reservation system for public sports facilities to improve residents' access and boost the local economy through sports marketing.
The county said Monday the overhaul aims to make it easier for residents to use sports facilities while injecting new energy into the local economy through active sports marketing.
Under the new system, dedicated zones will be set up at indoor sports facilities that any member of the public can reserve and use.
Separate reservation spaces will be allocated for general residents in proportion to each facility's size. The main allocations are two of seven badminton courts, two of six tennis courts, one of four soft tennis courts, and three of 11 table tennis tables.
Reservations can be made through the Haenam-gun Sports Business Division website and the Sotongnet community platform.
The county gathered input through a meeting with sports associations in August and plans to update the online reservation system settings and promote the new arrangement before the full rollout this month. It also plans to review expanding the reservation system to cover all sports facilities based on how the initial operation performs.
The county is also rolling out a sweeping support package to accelerate use of the Haenam Sports Park soccer fields, which were completed last year, and to attract visitors to the area.
The county will waive all usage fees for the Haenam Sports Park soccer fields through Dec. 31. Residents, out-of-county soccer teams, training camps and other visitors will all be able to use the facility free of charge after making a reservation and receiving approval. The strategy is to maximize early utilization of the new facility and actively draw outside sports participants to the region.
Haenam-gun said it will focus its administrative efforts on ensuring that the revamped reservation system and the generous Sports Park support package work together to channel sports marketing benefits directly into higher sales for accommodation businesses, restaurants and other local commerce in the Samsan-myeon and Haenam-eup areas.
"The overhaul of our sports facility operations will open the door wider so that any resident can use the facilities more conveniently, while also serving as an opportunity to energize the local economy through sports marketing," a county official said. "We will solidify Haenam's standing as a top sports city through seamless operations."
