2026 Nowon Craft Beer Festival

Nowon-gu District Mayor Seo Jun-o attended the 2026 Nowon Craft Beer Festival on Saturday afternoon alongside members of the Nowon-gu chapter of the Korea Blind Union, joining them in various programs at the event.

The event was organized to allow visually impaired residents to take part in a local festival and enjoy culture and leisure alongside their neighbors. A total of 32 people participated, including 17 visually impaired attendees and 15 personal care assistants.

Seo toured the festival grounds with participants, guided by on-site interpreters, taking part in an eco experience, a beer docent session and a Haneulmul Beer experience. At the beer docent session, participants listened to expert commentary and learned about the craft beer production process and its principles, while the Haneulmul Beer program offered a hands-on eco-friendly experience centered on urban farming.

The group then moved to the beer plaza, where they took in the festival atmosphere and shared snacks, mingling with other attendees.

Nowon-gu has invited families with disabilities to a water park in summer and a sledding facility in winter, and has run tailored programs at major local festivals, including a coffee festival. For major events such as the hydrangea festival, the district carefully checks accessibility facilities and movement routes in advance to ensure a comfortable experience. Ahead of the official opening of Nowon-gu's adventure theme park Jump on Sept. 28, the district plans to invite students from Dongcheon School for an early visit to experience the facility.

"Cultural life should be something everyone can enjoy together, regardless of disability," District Mayor Seo said. "We will continue to expand diverse cultural and leisure opportunities that both people with and without disabilities can share."
