NH Nonghyup Card halts Huons' bid for 11th straight win
Breakers announced a bright start to Round 3 of the team league by defeating Woori Financial Capital. NH Nonghyup Card halted Huons' bid for an 11th consecutive win.
Breakers defeated Woori Financial Capital 4:3 in a full match on day one of the Welcome Savings Bank PBA Team League Pohang City Tour 2026-2027. The match was held Thursday at the Pohang Sports Complex indoor gymnasium in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province.
The win marked Breakers' first victory over Woori Financial Capital. The team had suffered lopsided defeats in the previous two rounds, losing 1:4 in Round 1 and 0:4 in Round 2.
Breakers took early control, building a 3:1 set lead, but then dropped three straight sets, forcing a decisive seventh set. Team leader Lee Seung-jin sealed Breakers' first win of Round 3, defeating the formidable Lee Sang-dae 11-6 in the 10th inning of the high-pressure final set.
NH Nonghyup Card holds the record for the longest winning streak in team league history, with 14 consecutive wins in the 2023-24 season. The team stopped Huons' bid to extend its 10-game winning streak, defeating Huons 4:1. In the first set, Cho Jae-ho and Ma Min-kkeom (Vietnam) lost to Kang Dong-gung and Ngo Dinh Nai (Vietnam) 8-11 in the ninth inning. NH Nonghyup Card then went on to win all four remaining sets. Kim Min-a claimed two set wins, in the second and fourth sets, leading her team to victory.
Hana Card got off to a strong start, sweeping SY 4:0, while Harim also opened the round with a win, defeating Crown Haitai 4:1. Hi1 Resort, powered by Lee Mi-rae's two set wins, defeated Welcome Savings Bank 4:2.
