Lotte Mart and Lotte Super said Friday that they held a digital device training session for elderly residents from vulnerable households ahead of chuseok, the Korean harvest holiday, teaching them how to use self-service kiosks and mobile applications.
The session took place Thursday at the Munjeong Senior Welfare Center in Songpa-gu, Seoul, drawing 80 elderly residents from vulnerable households in the area. Lotte Mart and Lotte Super also handed out three types of meal kits from their private brand Onul Joeun -- yukgaejang, seaweed soup and beef bone broth.
The training covered how to purchase products using self-service kiosks, as well as how to shop online, earn loyalty points and check receipts through mobile apps. Participants also visited the Lotte Mart Songpa branch, where they practiced buying products using the kiosks actually in use at the store.
"We will continue our corporate social responsibility efforts to provide practical support for underserved members of local communities," said Kim Beom-chang, head of the HR innovation division at Lotte Mart and Lotte Super.
