Sustained youth support policies drive recognition
Ulsan's Nam-gu district has won the grand prize in the basic local government category at the 2026 Youth-Friendly Legislation Awards, the event's ninth edition. The awards are hosted by the Youth and Future Association under the National Assembly Secretariat, in recognition of Nam-gu's consistent policies supporting youth in all aspects of life.
The awards recognize local governments that have contributed to improving the quality of life for young people through legislative and communication policies tailored to their needs.
Nam-gu has steadily pursued youth-focused initiatives, including operating youth participation bodies, running customized youth support projects and hosting youth-led events. The district won the grand prize in 2023, the communication award in 2024, and the grand prize again in 2025, making this its fourth consecutive year receiving recognition. In August, it also won an excellence award in the outstanding project category at the 2026 National Local Government Job Creation Awards, hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
Since the start of its ninth popularly elected term, Nam-gu has continued to advance its vision of becoming "a vibrant city for youth, a district strong with young people." It offers a range of youth support programs across four key areas: participation and rights, welfare and economy, culture and education, and jobs.
