Gangneung City, under Mayor Kim Joong-nam, will collect reports from residents on regulations affecting daily life and economic activity and revise those found to be burdensome.

The special deregulation initiative, called the "2026 Gangneung Livelihood Regulation Discovery Drive," will run through Sept. 30.

The city plans to gather reports on inconveniences and unreasonable regulations that residents encounter in daily life, as well as various entry barriers hindering the business activities of small merchants and self-employed owners, and use them as a basis for reform. Reports may be submitted not only by Gangneung residents but also by companies, small businesses and their employees operating within the city.

The drive covers four areas in total: resolving public inconvenience, supporting small merchants and the self-employed, protecting socially vulnerable groups, and safeguarding life and safety.

Proposals can be submitted in any format by mail or email (stop123) through Sept. 30, or in person at the Special Self-Governing Affairs Division on the 12th floor of Gangneung City Hall.

The relevant departments will review submitted proposals and gather input through consultations. The city will forward cases requiring changes to national laws or systems to central government ministries as improvement recommendations, while it will revise or amend municipal ordinances directly.
