Facility features party room, shared kitchen, meeting rooms

Mamtteurak, a municipal parent community center where parents can meet and share child-rearing information, has opened on Hamwol-ro in Jung-gu, Ulsan.

Ulsan City invested 2.21 billion won ($1.65 million) to build the two-story, 413.4-square-meter facility, which will begin full operations Saturday.

The first floor houses a children's play and party room where parents and their kids can spend time together, along with a nursing room. The second floor includes a self-help group room, a program room, a counseling room, a meeting room, and a shared kitchen for cooking and other hobby activities. The party room will also be available for free rental as a venue for children's birthday parties. The center serves parents of children under 18 and the children themselves, operating Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Mamtteurak is meant to serve as a space where parents can share childcare experience and information, easing the isolation they may feel during parenting and helping build a community childcare network. It also offers a range of programs, including healthy meal preparation and cooking activities through the Mom-chelin Academy, knitting therapy sessions, cityscape sketching, body-toning yoga classes, and a parent counseling program.
