Daegu Health College signed a memorandum of understanding with the Dalseo-gu district office and Wolseong Community Welfare Center on Tuesday to support isolated and reclusive youth and other educationally vulnerable groups. The ceremony took place at Kkumkkuneun Theater in Nam-gu, Daegu.

Under the agreement, Daegu Health College will provide specialized personnel and programs that combine health care and medical services.

The Dalseo-gu district office will identify people in need and provide administrative support, while Wolseong Community Welfare Center will provide on-site case management and run tailored programs.

The three organizations plan to build a public-private-academic cooperation model to identify isolated and reclusive youth in the region. The model will help them achieve psychological stability, improve physical health and rebuild social relationships. It will also run customized programs to help them return to society and build a foundation for independence.

"The local government, welfare center and university have joined forces to build a solid 'triangular safety net' for young people," said Nam Sung-hee, president of Daegu Health College. "Drawing on the expertise the university has built up in health care, medicine, welfare and counseling, we will stand by these young people until they discover their potential and become self-reliant members of society."
