Sales Begin Wednesday at 3 p.m. via the 'Seoul Pay+' App — Monthly Purchase Limit of 500,000 Won Per Person

Yeongdeungpo-gu will issue 9 billion won ($6.71 million) worth of "Yeongdeungpo Love Vouchers" ahead of Chuseok, the Korean harvest holiday. The vouchers aim to ease the burden on residents' grocery budgets and boost business in neighborhood commercial districts.

The vouchers will go on sale at a 5 percent discount starting at 3 p.m. Wednesday. The purchase limit is 500,000 won per person per month. Buying the full monthly limit costs 475,000 won, saving 25,000 won.

Residents who want to purchase the vouchers can install the Seoul Pay+ app on their smartphones and select Yeongdeungpo Love Voucher from the voucher menu to complete payment. To use the vouchers, shoppers simply scan the app's QR code at a store's payment terminal. There is no need to issue a physical card or visit an office in person, making the process simple for anyone.

The vouchers can be used at about 24,000 affiliated merchants in the district, including traditional markets, restaurants, neighborhood supermarkets, hagwon and clinics.

The vouchers can also be used for payment on Ddaenggyeoyo, a public online food delivery platform, making them versatile for everything from holiday grocery shopping to delivery orders. Each person may hold up to 1.5 million won in vouchers at a time, and they remain valid for five years from the date of purchase.

The district said demand for the vouchers is expected to be concentrated ahead of the holiday rush. It advised residents who wish to purchase them to log on to the app right when sales open.

In addition, voucher purchases qualify for income tax deductions during year-end tax settlements.

Yeongdeungpo-gu District Mayor Cho Yu-jin said, "With high prices weighing heavily on grocery budgets this Chuseok, we decided to issue the 'Yeongdeungpo Love Voucher.'" She added, "We hope this voucher issuance provides real help to residents' household finances and serves as a boost for small business owners' sales recovery."
