Kwangju Bank has launched an anniversary event tied to its 58th founding year that supports the local economy by helping small merchants expand sales channels and promoting regional specialty products.
Kwangju Bank said Wednesday it will hold the "58th Anniversary and Jeonnam-Gwangju Special Metropolitan City Launch Celebration Event" through Oct. 30 for customers using its "WaBank" service.
The event also carries a message of support for the new start of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Special Metropolitan City.
The celebration consists of two parts: the "Special Thanks ON Event" and the "Shining Companionship ON Event." The Special Thanks ON Event targets customers who apply through WaBank during the event period and either newly sign up for a qualifying product or meet the conditions tied to a specific product.
Qualifying products and actions include opening a new won-denominated deposit account with 1 million won ($745) or more, opening a new won-denominated savings account with 50,000 won or more, opening a new fund account with 100,000 won or more, opening a new individual retirement pension account with 100,000 won, linking assets through MyData, registering for automatic utility bill payments, and increasing credit or debit card usage.
For the Special Thanks ON Event, 100 winners will be selected by drawing to receive Onnuri gift certificates, local lodging vouchers and regional specialty products. The prizes were curated to represent South Jeolla Province and Gwangju, including Gwangju kimchi, Wando abalone, Damyang hangwa, Jangheung shiitake mushrooms, Gurye cornus fruit juice, Gokseong baeksemi rice, Jindo dried seaweed and Yeosu Dolsan mustard leaf kimchi. The selection added a sense of regional solidarity to the event.
For the Shining Companionship ON Event, held to mark the bank's 58th anniversary, 5,800 winners will be selected by drawing to receive 2,000-won digital Onnuri gift certificates.
