Guro-gu is hosting the "2026 Chuseok Direct-Sale Market" ahead of the chuseok holiday, giving residents a chance to buy quality regional agricultural, specialty and seafood products — as well as seasonal holiday goods — at reasonable prices.
The market runs Sept. 16–17, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at the Guro-gu Office plaza.
This year's event has expanded its recruitment to local governments nationwide, drawing participation from 41 municipalities and 53 farms and vendors. Guro-gu's sister cities — Goesan-gun in North Chungcheong Province, Dangjin in South Chungcheong Province, Yecheon-gun in North Gyeongsang Province, and Gurye-gun in South Jeolla Province — will all take part, adding a spirit of inter-regional exchange as each showcases its signature local specialties.
More than 250 products will be on sale, spanning agricultural, livestock and seafood items, regional specialties and popular holiday goods. Highlights include Hanwoo beef, dried yellow croaker, traditional Korean confections, fresh fruit, salted seafood and traditional liquors from across the country.
To improve the shopping experience, the district plans to bring in additional Hanwoo beef farms, spreading visitor traffic more evenly and easing congestion around any single vendor.
A food court will also run alongside the main market, satisfying visitors' appetites with dishes prepared by the Guro-gu Saemaul Women's Association — including braised pork trotters, squid kimchi pancakes, kimbap and fish cake udon.
Each participating farm will donate up to 5 percent of its sales proceeds to a fund for underprivileged neighbors, extending the warmth of the holiday season to those in need.
"We have put together this direct-sale market so that residents can find great products from all over the country in one place ahead of chuseok," a Guro-gu official said. "We hope many residents will come out to buy quality goods at reasonable prices, enjoy a variety of food, and soak up the holiday atmosphere."
