About 250 welfare workers and civil servants to gather at the district office auditorium Wednesday for the 27th Social Welfare Day ceremony, themed 'Happy Gwangjin We Build Together'
Gwangjin-gu will hold its 27th Social Welfare Day ceremony at the district office's main auditorium Wednesday.
Sept. 7 is designated each year as Social Welfare Day to raise public awareness of social welfare and encourage the work of those in the field.
This year's ceremony is themed "Happy Gwangjin We Build Together — Gwangjin's Change, Welfare's Growth, Drawing the Future Side by Side." About 250 participants — including social welfare workers, community welfare council members and civil servants — will gather to honor those who have dedicated themselves to advancing local welfare and to reflect on the meaning of the public-private partnership that has shaped it.
The event will present commendations to 37 individuals who have contributed to improving community welfare. Participants will also share experiences and achievements through case presentations from the welfare field, looking back on the changes they have brought about together.
The district has also arranged programs to give welfare workers a chance to step away from their daily routines, encourage one another and recharge.
On Wednesday, a "healing cinema" event will be held at the Megabox Guui Eastpole branch, where about 120 welfare workers and others will watch the film "Gyeongju Giyaeng" for a moment of rest and renewal.
Then, from Thursday through Friday, a "Social Welfare Week healing and recharge program" will run at Atelier des Lumières and its lounge space, offering exhibition visits along with time for conversation and relaxation so participants can encourage each other and refresh.
Gwangjin-gu District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho expressed deep gratitude to welfare workers and community welfare council members "who look after our neighbors in need up close and extend a warm hand," adding, "Social welfare is most powerful when we work together rather than alone, and we will continue to work closely with the private sector to build a warm Gwangjin where no one is left behind."
