Actor Han Jung-su said he would join a presidential impeachment campaign if the government decides to deploy troops to the Strait of Hormuz.

On Monday, Han wrote on his Instagram that he would "unconditionally take part in the president's impeachment" if a deployment goes ahead, criticizing the move as "a path to national ruin and a state driving its people into the jaws of death."

In an earlier post, Han said: "Not a single country in the world is joining this fight. Even Canada, which is more dependent on the US than we are, is fiercely pushing back against Washington and seeing its approval ratings rise — and we're supposed to go in alone? This country is truly losing its mind." He added, "Why are we the only ones going in like fools? Are we the world's pushover? Do those young lives belong to you?"

On Saturday, he wrote that "deployment is murder and a sacrifice of our young people," adding that he would "fight to the end" if the government decides to send troops.

Meanwhile, the South Korean government is reviewing a US request to send troops and assets to the Strait of Hormuz.

A senior Iranian official warned that any South Korean involvement in operations against Iran in the Strait of Hormuz would be considered an act of war.
